I used to dread driving to Tagaytay ’cause I always had this image that it would take 2-3 hours of me being stuck in traffic before I got there but when I drove there last week, it only took me 1.5 hours! Such a relief for someone who hates traffic as much as I do! I think I’m gonna start doing this more often. I’m so glad I did too ’cause I was able to escape the city for just a few days and press the proverbial ‘reset button’. In such a short drive, I was immediately transported to a beautiful new city with fresh air and mountain views. It felt like a world away from the hustle and bustle and standstill that is Manila traffic.

I arrived at Taal Vista Hotel for some much-needed r&r and got a room with such a pretty view of the lake and mountains. Granted, it was raining hard when I arrived but that didn’t dampen the mood at all. If anything, it was actually quite perfect to have the wind howling outside, the piano playing in the background, and me eating my pasta by the fireplace. I was so at peace.

I keep forgetting how great this place is for my asthma too! The clean air helps me breath deeper and fills me with such joy every time I inhale. I always forget how awesome it feels to breathe in deep and get a lungful of fresh air ’cause I have gotten so used to the pollution that surrounds us everyday. I now understand why people buy vacation homes in this city – it’s just good for you (for your body and your soul)! Until the day comes that I can afford my own piece of this paradise, though, I’ve got this place to escape to.

Much of my stay was spent either in bed or stuffing my face with the breakfast menu in Taza restaurant.

Eggs Benedict, Corned Beef, Chicken and Waffles, and Home-cured Bacon? YES PLEASE!

Don’t get me started on that bacon. Every time I sat down to eat, I ordered that bacon on the side and had ZERO plans to share! haha! It’s silly but it’s true. If anyone wanted a bite, they would have to get their own! It was that good.

When the sun came out, I was able to walk around on the patio and really take in the beautiful view and soak up some of that Vitamin D.

Then, I dropped by the pool for a quick dip and read my book while I had my mango shake.

At night, the weather was just perfectly rainy that I decided to try the signature massage at Asmara Spa.

It was like the perfect little oasis from the storm outside. I got to snuggle up in my robe and sip some tea while the rain poured outside. My therapist’s name was Daisy her hands were like magic! I don’t know know if I was just tired from digesting all that bacon, but I seriously melted like butter! Is it just me or do you always dread when the massage therapist says she’s done? haha! I didn’t wanna leave that place! I’m actually still dreaming about that massage to this day. I would seriously drive back just for that!

Sometimes all you really need is a quick escape from reality to help you reset…

If you haven’t already seen it, here’s a fun video I got to shoot while I was there too!

Thank you so much to the entire Taal Vista Hotel team for making my stay so relaxing! I can’t wait to go back for another reset sesh and this time, I’m taking ALL my friends with me 🙂
